Naftera font family has been designed for Graviton Font Foundry by Pablo Balcells in 2019. It is a mechanical, geometric sans serif typeface with display swashed characters and soft rounded endings that provide a trong but refined aesthetic. Naftera has been conceived to be most suitable for logos, headlines and display design pieces as well as short length text blocks.

Naftera consists of 10 styles, 8 of which containing small caps and glyph coverage for several language and 2 of which are free.

The cover of the 1904 sheet music from the Tibetan comic opera “The Forbidden Land” had the title hand lettered in an unusual Art Nouveau style.

Mostly squared with rounded corners, many of the characters twisted, turned and extended in ways that took on the look of the Far East.

This became the design model for Nouveau Moderne JNL, which is available in regular and oblique versions.

A 1910 collection of piano sheet music called “Presser’s Economy Group” had that name hand lettered in a fancy serif lettering style that could fall somewhere between Art Nouveau and semi-calligraphic.  No matter the label you attach to the style, it makes for a wonderful digital type revival.

The end result is Piano Music JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.
