TT Geekette is an experimental variable* serif with a friendly and flexible character of shapes. In this project, we wanted to get away from simplifications and dry geometry and to experiment with the smoothness, softness, and plasticity of forms. And in order to make the project a little more stylish and serious, we decided to make the font monospaced.

When creating TT Geekette, we did not rely on traditional writing techniques or on the influence of pen movement on the font pattern. Despite the fact that judging by certain characters TT Geekette is a serif, the font is specifically “built” and “drawn”. There are several systemic techniques in font design, such as “loops” which set the plastic rhythm for the entire typeface.

Variability in TT Geekette is influenced by contrast buildup in the font—moving the slider to adjust the variability axis, you gradually move from a completely non-contrast monolinear serif font to a font with a pronounced reverse contrast. In addition, with the help of the variability slider, you can remove serifs from the monolinear essence of the font.

The TT Geekette family consists of 3 styles: the TT Geekette Bones—monolinear font, the TT Geekette Muscles—reverse contrast serif, and the TT Geekette Variable font. Each style contains over 450 glyphs. And yes, technically the typeface can be used in programming, at least you are guaranteed to get your share of bright emotions.

*An important clarification regarding variable fonts. At the moment, not all graphic editors, programs and browsers support variable fonts. You can check the status of support for the variability of your software here: v-fonts.com/support/

Designed by Richard Miller, Uniform Pro is a sans serif font family. This typeface has forty-two styles and was published by Miller Type Foundry.

THE SPARK
Uniform started as a spark of inspiration one day while I was shopping at the store. I was looking at some typography on a can of dog food and the idea popped into my head, “What if there was a geometric typeface with a circular O that when condensed, the O became straight sided, instead of becoming an oval?”

I quickly sketched out the concept of Uniform and liked what I saw, the only problem was I was working full time as a graphic designer, and as a newly married husband, I didn’t have any time to make the extensive typeface.

LETDOWN
A year and a half later, shortly after the birth of my first child, my boss cut my hours in half. Although stressful, I saw this event as an opportunity to finally have time to complete the typeface I had in my head. I spent a couple months putting together a Kickstarter campaign, thinking it would be a smashing success, and I would be able to live off the donations long enough to complete the typeface. Wrong! The campaign was a flop and I was left discouraged and dejected, thinking that the great idea I had in my head would never become a reality…

PERSEVERANCE
At the end of the year, in December 2013, I decided to go for it and make this new type family no matter what it took. I began waking up a few hours before work each morning (getting only four hours of sleep each night) carefully crafting each individual glyph day by day. After nine months of hard work (and just about killing myself in the process!) in October 2014, I finally had a finished product ready to be released to the public!

THE PINNACLE
Fast forward a few years and now Uniform has reached it’s pinnacle, Uniform Pro. Uniform Pro now offers extended language support including Cyrillic and Greek character sets, integrated italic styles, additional weights, and additional OpenType features.

The Flowers Family is a collection of 3 typefaces in two weights, meticulously drawn by British designer Roy Preston. The Flowers fonts share a common clean and narrow design, with oval-shaped rounds and distinctive individual letter shapes that give each font a unique character all their own. Flowers Petal is the base typeface, essentially a sanserif with rounded terminal ends. Flowers Bud adds a unique inverted triangle shaped serif, and Flowers Thorn replaces that with an elegant pointed serif. All 3 typefaces are very legible and usable for text runs, and there are bold weights of each font for headlines and display applications.

The Flowers fonts have an extended character set that supports many Western European languages, and each font has some OpenType features, including Ligatures, that make them more useful.

Designed by Jess Latham, Fudge Sauce is a multiple classification font family. This typeface has two styles and was published by Blue Vinyl Fonts.

Fudge Sauce is a fun font duo from Blue Vinyl Fonts!

Fudge Sauce contains the following opentype goodness:

Contextual Alternates
Let’s start with the starting and ending lowercase letters! Sentences with only lowercase typically need some oomph. The starting lowercase letters add impact and balance. Lastly, the lowercase endings finish words off nicely.

The lowercase L gets an entry stroke where needed to add balance.

Swashes
Swashes can be turned on and you shouldn’t have to worry about collisions. If in a rare situation you get a swash that doesn’t play well with others, just highlight it and turn off swash for that character. You can also just drop in swashes manually.

Ligatures
Ligatures will add variation with some common double letter combinations. Turn on Ligatures and swashes and the double lowercase t will come alive!

Alternates
There are alternates that can be manually selected from the glyphs palette. Highlight a letter and check to see if there are any alternates that can be applied.

Stylistic Alternates
With stylistic alternates on, you get a traditional double story uppercase and lowercase Z.

Ornaments
There’s a few brushy swoops. These need to be placed manually in a graphics program.

Fudge Sauce Caps is an all caps font that pairs well with Fudge Sauce!

Language support is broad for both fonts and extends to the Central European market. Fudge Sauce contains 784 characters and Fudge Sauce Caps contains 366 characters.

Designed by Jakob Fischer, Unlikely is a grunge and novelty font family. This typeface has two styles and was published by Pizzadude.dk.

This all started as a bunch of letter written using a squared paper as a guide. It all turned out fine, but there was something that wasn’t quite right…it was boring! I took all the letters and grunge it all up and did all the drips as well - and suddenly that boring look was gone!
That was an unlikely development!

Designed by Alejandro Freitez, Ansage is a sans serif font family. This typeface has sixty styles and was published by Sudtipos.

Meaning Announcement in German, Ansage is versatile and communicates effectively across a broad range of media and formats such as branding, posters, websites, apps, titles and compositions with little spacing).

Ansage is a sans serif font with a strong personality that emerges from an interest in and the study of a wide variety of typographic specimens of Gothic fonts from the nineteenth century. It is available in 10 weights, ranging from Hairline to Black, and 3 widths – Condensed, Regular and Expanded – plus italics, which make a total of 60 perfect variables to combine and contrast with each other.
